No Logo Branding: LAUNCH discussion next Friday
Would you dare start a new company without a logo*? No?
Why not?
No doubt, you have been told: “Your logo is the first impression of your company to your prospects. You need to make it count.”
My opinion?
That your logo represents you to the world (and good ones can help your bottom line) goes without saying. But it should not follow everyone needs one, no matter what. If you have a limited budget, spend it on other places first. More than money, though, spend the time needed to come up with a real message. Build your brand step by small step. Branding without a logo is not only possible, sometimes it’s a better way.
What do you think?
Next Friday morning, we are having another dialogue session. Come share your thoughts. Are you happy with your logo? Do you think it’s possible to succeed without one professionally made? We have assembled a small army of graphic designers who will listen, and give their perspective on logo-making and branding.
They are (more to be confirmed):
- Miles Matsumoto (Matsumoto Design)
- Bridget Gailey (bg | creative and TRAY Creative)
- Joshua Huisenga (Chalkbox Studio)
- Keith Harper (Inkd)
- Kelly Hobkirk(Train of Thought)
As these are people who make living making logos for people, I expect some disagreements over what I am proposing. The discussion, though, will surely spark some new thinking around branding small businesses.
Come find out.

*—By “logo” here, I mean anything that marks your business, from trademarks, icons, logotype, to corporate identities. These are, technically, all different, but I am talking about them generally.
